Cornell Elite Basketball Academy Why we call it an academy: We believe that having great physical skills are not enough to be truly successful anymore. You must also possess mental toughness, a great attitude, proper motivation, great communication, a good work ethic, and the ability to focus in order to be successful and reach your true potential. These are the skills that we feel are often left out of the typical camp and it is our inclusion of drills and specific work to target these skills that makes our academy a unique opportunity.
Skills taught at the Elite Academy: The emphasis of the camp is offensive skill improvement. The fundamentals of perimeter shooting, post moves, one-on-one peri. moves, ballhandling and passing will all be taught and developed throughout the camp. Defensive fundamentals taught will include closeouts, help & recover, stance and slide footwork and defending screens. Offensive and defensive concepts will be included.
The curriculum of the Cornell Elite Academy camp is designed with daily sessions of Court Time, Classroom Training Sessions and Video Analysis.
1) Court Time:
On-the-floor sessions are designed to reinforce habits and concepts taught in the classroom sessions. Both drills and game situations are used to improve fundamentals and improve mental habits that lead to increasingly better and smarter play. The on-the-floor sessions will also be designed to teach and improve fundamentals with intense, intelligent training methods.
2) Classroom Training Sessions:
The classroom training sessions will provide knowledge and fresh ideas for players who are hungry to improve their game. The sessions will greatly benefit the dedicated athlete who desires to improve and experience another level of performance. Campers will attend two classroom sessions daily which allow then to study the intricacies of the game and develop a greater understanding of basketball skills and concepts, discipline, leadership and intelligent training. Campers will also benefit for the discussing the challenges they face leading their teams.
3) Video Analysis:
Campers will study actual game footage to help gain a clear vision of concepts and fundamentals being taught on every aspect of the game. The in-depth analysis will deepen each campers understanding of the game and help them broaden the way they watch – and play - basketball in the future.
